Historical Walk of Queer Subculture & Sexual Underground

GUIDED TOUR / SIDE EVENT

On a walk from the Türkis Lila Villa to the Schikander Kino we look back into the history of Vienna's queer subculture. The history of the LGBTIQ+ movement has always been one of sexual liberation and self-determination in addition to the struggle for legal equality. This was lived out in different places, in hidden spaces accessible only to insiders or in public. We walk to places with a historical and contemporary dimension. Places where queer sex was lived out, to bars with darkrooms, to parks, baths and "lodges" (public rest rooms), which have been popular meeting places over the last 100 years.
